Introduction:
The Evolution of Customer demand for Speed Precision,
Reliability, Safety and Comfort at Cost Effective
terms has made increasing demands on the integrity
of Metal Casting Dimension, Structure, Matrix, Machinability
and overall Reliability in terms of Safety and Performance.
Filtration of Molten Metal is therefore assuming
increasing importance as the quality of finished
metal products depends largely on the treatment of
Melts prior to actual casting.
Functions:
The separation of large, medium and small inclusions
is achieved by mechanical entrapment on the surface
of the filter. Even the finer particles are removed
by physical, chemical and electrostatic adhesion
to the filter walls as the metal flows through
the Filter Medium.
Characteristics & Benefits:
Uniform Mesh grid with blade shaped passage to
provide the surface and wall combination to physically,
chemically and electrostatically entrap dross and
non-metallic inclusions
Enables excellent laminar flow, without inhibiting
pouring speed
Smooth and rigid walls resist cracking to prevent
inclusion of Filter pieces flushing into the casting
Wide grid wall area if 200 cells/ sq. in.
Assists in simplification of Runner and down-spruce
design
Saves Runner Space, increasing Casting Yield.
Reduces rejections due to inclusions, saving
casting scrap and resultant costs
