Increased Gel Swell & Bond

MPM's latest product offering to supplement and complement their range of Lustrous Carbon additives sold under their brand range 'Lustron' for use in green sand moulding practice in ferrous foundries to improve surface finish and reduce sand related defects on castings; is their range of Bentonite and processed Bentonite sold under their brand range 'MPM BONA' and 'PROBOND' respectively.

MPM BOND is a range of conventional but carefully selected Sodium activated Bentonite from the world renowned region of KUTCH in GUJRAT, INDIA. The typical specifications of one of our general export quality range are:

Swelling Index: 30-35
PH: 9 to 9.5%
Swelling time: Instantaneous, M.B. Value : 420 ML
Liquid Formation: 500 Min
Gelling Formation Index: 70%
Size: 99% through 100 mesh/90% through 200 mesh

The above specifications are typical only. Since product development is continual, we reserve the right to change specifications at any time and also would co-operate with the customer to offer tailormade specifications as may ne decided time to time.

PROBOND is our range of Bentonite which is processed in our Mills to enhance the swell and Bond properties of MPM BOND. The aim is to improve/shorten swell/gel times and to enhance bond capabilities of conventional Bentonite so that less quality over current uasge at the time is required for addition in the green sand to achieve standard/current target GCS values of a foundry green sand system.

The concept for use of processed Bentonite despite higher cost is that less additions of additives of any type in a green sand system improves sand flowability, allows the sand to 'breathe' better by improving permeability, reduces dead clay and oolatization and maintains sand refractoriness; all essential to maintaining good green sand performance on casting and related casting defects.

Typical specifications for PROBOND are under development and will be available for samples, trials and application from July 2007.
